The New Orleans Music Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization dedicated to the unification, restoration, and preservation of the history and culture that has made New Orleans known wordlwide as the Birthplace of Jazz music. The NOMHF was created to preserve the cultural legacy of the City of New Orleans, to provide the musicians, artists, and chefs much needed recognition and support, and to create a national landmark destination for the City of New Orleans.

The New Orleans Music Hall of Fame was established in 1981, and has championed the cause of New Orleans culture and history ever since. A plan is under way to restore and develop the many historical landmarks of South Rampart Street into a living museum consisting of a rooftop garden dance hall, a Jazz and Blues club, a historical exhibit space, an antique store and interactive wax museum, and a community center offering training in the New Orleans music industry, and teaching the history and culture that made New Orleans famous worldwide.
